I am a first generation graduate of an immigrant family. My father worked long hours and we were still very poor. It was their life long dream to see us graduate. I am an older graduate, but I am proud to say that I never gave up. I not only did this for my family, but for myself. I knew that no matter what I did in this life, I would make sure to help make this world a better place.
I had always been curious about science as a kid. I was fascinated with how our body worked, how the stars in the sky aligned, and even how our mind worked. Bill Nye the Science Guy was my all time favorite. He made me fall in love with science more and more. Therefore, being in healthcare was an easy choice for me. I would be able to work in science as well as helping people.
Growing up, watching how much the nurses helped my mother during our office visits really left a huge impact in my life. Helping a parent understand medical procedures and translating is one of the biggest gifts someone can give to a parent. I am determined to help children and their families with anything in my ability. Being able to provide that comfort and understanding will hopefully help parents feel comfortable enough to ask more questions and leave with a full comprehension of what was discussed. I have recently been accepted into a prelicensure bachelors program for science and nursing and I am determined to finish strong to be able to start my career as a nurse. I will do everything in my abilities to provide children and their families with comfort and full understanding of their health.
