Grad School Interests

I am interested in Public Health. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a valuable lesson to us all. We need to be better prepared and ready to react if there is ever another outbreak of any kind. We also need to garner support from the public to help control the spread. I want to be a part of preventing this from ever happening again.

Intended Job Path

I hope to conduct research and help find a cure for COVID-19 as too many people are still suffering to date post massive vaccination efforts.

Job Experience

Contact Tracer/Field Interviewer
As a certified contact tracer/ field interviewer, I conduct time sensitive, confidential phone interviews (outbound calls) for patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 also known as Cases and their Contacts for the State of Maryland. I am part of Governor Larry Hogan’s- Maryland Strong Roadmap to Recovery Contact Tracing Program. The program that I use is Sales Force. To date, I have perfect performance evaluations. My duties included: *Utilizing Sales Force to contact an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 (Case) *interviewing Contacts and Cases and identifying any person(s) who may have come into contact (less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) with the infected individual (Contacts). *Collecting and documenting as much information about the Case or Contact as possible, having the individual monitor their symptom's, getting immediate medical attention when necessary, and giving instructions on how to properly isolate (case) or quarantine (contact). *Educating the patient about COVID-19 *Reassuring, and providing guidelines for testing, quarantine, isolation, social services, and vaccinations *Providing multiple resources that the patient can refer to answering the patient’s questions *Contacting the authorities (police, fire, or ambulance) in cases of emergency. The above are all tools that I utilized so that I can do my part in making a difference for the state of Maryland during this Coronavirus pandemic. I was recently selected to become trained for pilot program- Inbound Calling. Contacts and Index Cases with COVID-19 can call me directly for a variety of reasons and I must be able to appropriately handle, guide, direct, answer or subsequently interview each call that I receive.
