While in medical school, I have volunteered as a part of leadership for the Mayo Clinic chapter of the John Wayne Cancer Foundation: Block the Blaze program, reaching K-12 students to raise awareness of the prevention and early detection of skin cancer. Additionally, I am involved with Street Medicine Phoenix, caring for the homeless with the goal to improve access to quality healthcare through street-based primary and preventive care services. As an active member of the Kern National Network (KNN) for Caring and Character in Medicine, I co-presented a talk on teamwork alongside faculty of the KNN as well as co-founded my medical school's chapter of the KNN. I really enjoy giving back and I aim to continue to do so throughout my career. For this reason, I am providing mentorship and guidance to an underrepresented undergraduate pre-medical student participating in the Undergraduate Plummer Scholar Program at Mayo Clinic. Through all these development opportunities, I saw how inclusive communities can build trust and rise above adversity together. I will bring a deepened sense of awareness, cultural sensitivity, and respect for others with me into my medical practice. I want to be a part of the solution, bringing medicine to the overarching fight for equity.
