The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship is a unique leadership development opportunity for experienced, motivated individuals seeking to make a difference in the struggle to eliminate hunger and poverty worldwide. This two-year program begins with a one-year field placement in a developing country to address hunger and poverty-related issues including agriculture, food security, health and nutrition, and private sector development. Fellows spend their second year in a policy environment, usually at the headquarters of the organizations where they served during their field placements. Eligible applicants must be US Citizens or permanent residents. Candidates must have a graduate degree or equivalent experience in a related international development field, must have at least one year of work or volunteer experience in a developing country, must have demonstrated leadership qualities and abilities, and have a strong commitment to alleviating hunger and poverty. Candidates must be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to perform well in team and cross-cultural environments.
