My name is Zach Yarnell and I am a sophomore Business Administration major concentrating in management at Colorado State University. I am from Castle Rock, Colorado and have pretty much spent my entire life in Colorado, mainly around the Castle Rock area. During my time at CSU, I have been involved in a few different clubs and organizations outside of my academic work. First off, I am on the Colorado State University cheerleading team. I was on the team as a freshman and remain a part of the program this year as a sophomore. Beyond that, I am member of Theta Chi Fraternity as was recently elected as the Scholarship Chair for the 2014 calendar year. I am also a member of President’s Leadership Program, which is a two credit class at CSU. In addition, I spent my last summer as an Orientation Leader and I will spend my upcoming summer doing the same. Lastly, this year I am working for the Office of Admissions giving tours to prospective students and families.
I am truly honored and thankful to receive this scholarship. This award will definitely make a difference with my education at Colorado State University. The scholarship will ultimately help me pay for college, which is not an easy task. The expense for higher education only continues to increase, so every little bit makes a huge difference. Beyond that, this scholarship will really serve as a motivator for me, reinforcing the idea that hard work pays off. This scholarship inspires me to excel and do great things because I now see that the sacrifice is worth it.
