My name is Rachel Kendig, and I attend the University of Kentucky. I will be a sophomore in the school of engineering this upcoming fall. Specifically, I am studying to be a civil engineer. However, I also adore music and art, so I have taken on an interdisciplinary minor in the arts, which covers art, music, and theater. It is my goal to graduate with a bachelor of science in civil engineering and then go back to school for a master’s degree in either business or architecture. But because that’s a ways off, I have gotten involved in a lot of different organizations on campus to keep me entertained. My first love is definitely marching band. I play the alto saxophone in the University of Kentucky wildcat marching band, and I will be a squad leader this upcoming fall for a group of younger saxophone players. I also play in concert band on tenor sax, in pep band for an amazing basketball team, and in road band to support our athletic teams. Besides music, however, I am involved in both a coed fraternity and a coed sorority. The fraternity is Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity that serves the Lexington area, while the sorority is Tau Beta Sigma, a service fraternity affiliated with the university bands. I am a volunteer at Southland Christian Church’s college service called 608, and I attend the Christian Student Fellowship on campus, where I will be a member of the discipleship team this upcoming year.
