Rho Chi Rating, Reviews and Requirements. Is it worth it?

What is
Rho Chi?

What are the requirements to be in Rho Chi?

Membership in The Rho Chi Society is a privilege accorded to the very few who distinguish themselves by their academic and professional achievements and who aspire to the mission and vision of the Society. Members may be elected as professional or graduate students in Pharmacy, as members of faculties of schools and colleges of pharmacy, as alumni who distinguish themselves in the Profession, or as honorary members by special action of the Society’s Executive Council.

Rho Chi has two aims, or performs two functions:

  1. It recognizes and rewards outstanding scholarly attainment, and
  2. It thereby encourages and stimulates outstanding scholarship. The attainment of membership in an honor society is not only the highest achievement of social approbation by a select few, but it also encourages others to attain for themselves such recognition and approbation.

What is the history of Rho Chi?

Rho Chi is an international honor society for pharmaceutical sciences. It was founded on May 19, 1922, to "encourage high scholastic achievement and fellowship among students in pharmacy and to promote the pharmaceutical sciences.”

What are the key benefits of being a member of Rho Chi?

As the academic honor society in pharmacy, the Rho Chi Society:

  • Encourages and recognizes intellectual achievement
  • Stimulates critical inquiry to advance pharmacy
  • Contributes to the development of intellectual leaders
  • Promotes highest ethical standards
  • Fosters collaboration

Based on the information, here is our review:

Our first observation is: that this society is a niche society for pharmaceutical students, meaning that while it is smaller than other honor societies, the opportunities for post-graduation alumni connections is more likely.

Our second observation was: that this society has existed for nearly 100 years, showing it’s resilience through college campuses over the course of time.

Our third observation was: that members of faculties of schools and colleges of pharmacy, as well alumni who distinguish themselves in the Profession are eligible to join.
