- Have declared a major in family and consumer sciences or one of the specializations in the human sciences,
- Have completed 45 semester hours or equivalent,
- Rank in the top 25% of their class in the unit.
Graduate students shall
- Be enrolled in a graduate program in family and consumer sciences or one of the specializations in the human sciences,
- Have completed 12 semester hours of graduate work or equivalent, and
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Kappa Omicron Nu is the leading honor society for students in the human sciences. It was established on February 21, 1990 by the consolidation of Kappa Omicron Phi and Omicron Nu. Kappa Omicron Nu chapters are located in colleges and universities that offer a strong human sciences program.
Chapter members are undergraduate and graduate students who major in one of the specializations and meet the high standards of scholarship.

Our first observation is: that other than offering networking among colleges in a niche field, there aren’t too many details on their website regarding benefits. We would love to see more!
Our second observation was: that this is geared towards the students in the field of Human Sciences, which creates a space for diversity and commonality all at once, as differing majors in that field may take part.
Our third observation was: that they have a GPA requirement for Graduate students, but they use a percentage to determine the elibigibily for an Undergraduate student, which allows a more inclusive feel at a lower level.
