Why You Should Join Uppsala's Student Nation

Joining one of Uppsala University's student nations was probably one of the best decisions I made while I studied abroad in Sweden. Uppsala University has thirteen unique student nations to choose from with a little bit of something for everyone. Through the student nation of Kalmar, I got a job working as a waitress in Pub Kronan and joined a skit club known as Spex. Working as a waitress provided me with some great life skills such as cooking and etiquette as I worked alongside peers who I am proud to call my friends. The pay was peanuts, but at least I got to eat as much as I wanted and meet some pretty awesome people. 

Students from all over the world melded together in the back of our tiny kitchen or on the floor of our giant ballroom during Spex nights. I really miss entertaining the crowd when I sang on stage during music night at Pub Kronan or wrote up crazy mad lib-styled scripts with my friends during Spex shows. So, take it from someone who's been there and join one of Uppsala University's student nations because you never know what you'll find or who you'll meet.
