Fast food Companies and Their Way of Tricking Consumers
Dec 04,2017Fast food companies produce foods called “Junk Foods” which are full of salt, sugar and fat. Junk Foods are foods that have high calories having little nutritional value. Some people eat junk foods to survive and others eat to because it tastes good. All these junk foods are from food restaurants, food companies, supermarket and many more. They are the cause of making children obese. Food companies are careless about consumers. They don’t care about our health at all. “According to Michael Moss, he said food companies know that sugary, salty, fatty foods are not good for us but they still manufacture these foods for us to eat. Besides, parents are also the cause of making their children obese all because of the choice they make.Food companies nowadays don’t care about what consumers eat but all they care is how to make more money to expand their busines.
First and foremost, fast food companies are marketing to children a product with proven health hazards and no warning labels according to David Zinczenko. This indicate that because there are no calorie information charts on fast food packaging, consumers eat haphazardly to the extent that they don’t even think of how much they are eating. This is actually killing people slowly but they don’t know. Bear in mind that, fast food companies don’t care about you, where you come from or who you are but all they care is your money. Fast food restaurant shows something called “Remunerative Incentive” like gives out reward or coupons to consumers so that they will show up in their next visit. Children of today are been addicted to sugary, salt and fatty foods all because they taste good. According to Witherly in the book “They say, I say”, he said “When you eat Cheetos and you feel that something is melting down quickly, your brain thinks that there’s no calories in it……you can just be keeping eating it forever.” As a consumer, you have to ask yourself, what ingredients do food industry use to manufacture or prepare the foods we consume every day.
Furthermore, supermarket also play a role in this. According to Marion Nestle, she said “Supermarkets are not social service agencies providing food for the hungry but their job is to sell food, and more of it”. She said something interesting like “the more you see, the more you buy”. One need to make the right choice of buying commodities. Supermarkets carry fancy commodities that attract consumers to shop more. They have their way of decorating commodities and attracting the attention of consumers. “Research says that about 70 percent of shoppers bring lists into supermarkets, but only about 10 percent adhere to them” according to Marion Nestle. This is because of the music grocery stores play for the consumer, the slower the beat, the longer you will tarry. Besides, “they also put the items most consumers need like meat, coffee, or bananas at a difficult spot where consumers would find it difficult to figure them according to Marion Nestle”. Another way supermarkets get in touch with consumers is they let them taste the sample, and if you like the taste, you are likely to buy it according to Marion Nestle.
Lastly, fast food restaurant like Buffet trick consumer in way of making us stupid or dumb. One thing about them is, they add more water to their soft drinks like sprite. With this trick, if you’re not smart enough, I bet you won’t know anything about this. It tastes the same as sprite. Fast foods companies make their foods cheaper for consumers to afford. They add food flavors to their foods to have a succulent scent and attract buyers. Another way of their tricks is they even change French fries sizes like they change the medium size to small and large size to medium. The last time I visited Macdonald’s in Orange West Haven, I bought two French fries, one medium and one small. The funny aspect was that both medium and small were looking the same. I was like what? From that moment, I notice that they have been deceiving. Fast food companies want our money but nothing else.
In a nutshell, Food companies nowadays don’t care about what consumers eat but all they care is how to make more money to expand their business. As I said earlier, they don’t want anything from you except your money so that they can improve their way of running their business. My advice for consumers is to make the right choice of eating. Think of what you eat outside, cook your own food and don’t depend on fast food companies. The best way of surviving is eating good food and thinking about your health. As I consumer, don’t imitate what people eat but think about your health and know what kinds of foods are good for you. The way of eating matters.
